VEGAN TAKEOUT: gangster vegan

I order online, I take it out, I give you my take. This episode of Vegan Takeout has me hanging out in Baltimore, MD. Located inside the Cross Street Market, Gangster Vegan Organics is a hidden gem in the heart of Charm City. Local and fresh plant-based cuisine for everyone is their philosophy.

The dirty south barbecue bowl caught my eye online. This is a meal for two days. This is a meal for two people. This is pure plant-based goodness, vegan deliciousness. It’s hard to decide whether to use a spoon or a fork. I used both! Black beans, brown rice, mushrooms, kale, homemade barbecue sauce, beets, carrots. The kale is nice and wet. It’s not dry.

Everything seems to be in a small flavor profile. Like there’s a small flavor window. It blends together very well. It just tastes fresh. I wish the rice and the beans were together more. The kale separates them. And that to me is just heartbreaking.

The shredded beets are a nice addition. The rice at the bottom is like a hidden treasure. Whatever corner you choose, it’s going to be good. I’m not going to lie, I’m not a huge red cabbage fan. These beets are on point. Mushrooms are off the chart. There’s no way in hell I’m finishing this.

Gangster Vegan Organics, you made a dessert after my favorite Tribe Called Quest song, Benita Applebaum. I’m loving it. This thing is crazy. It’s raw, vegan, gluten-free and made with love. This should be illegal, it’s so good. It’s ridiculously delicious.

This is hands down one of, if not the best vegan desserts I have ever had. From the texture to the flavor to the sweetness…it is phenomenal. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite of my food. I feel full, completely nourished and absolutely satisfied.
